Mouse Handling 101

Greetings!

One of the high-lights of last week was mouse handling training. I finally got first hand experience working with the fuzzy, four-legged fellows. I was trained in all the typical techniques from holding, to IV injection, to euthanasia. I managed not to get bitten, despite the animosity the little fellow had towards me after a couple of techniques.

The whole experience was not that bad. Now I can say I have surmounted a barrier that previously seemed out of the question - I never thought I would be able to work with mice. :-) Since handling training I dissected out more intestine, but nothing else yet!

The other high-light from last week was the Genetics and Molecular Biology curriculum retreat on the coast - at Atlantic Beach. Please see the next post for details and photos!

~Hasta luego!
