Hello Family and Friends!
So I have arrived in North Carolina. I have been here for almost a week now and I am working on getting settled in.
For the first couple of days I stayed with some great friends, but I have since moved into my apartment, which is really nice (except for the fleas in the carpet)! I will try to enclose some pictures later, once there is something to see. Right now my half of the apartment is pretty empty - - I am still waiting for all my stuff to arrive via moving van. I finally got the call today that my is loaded and is leaving CA, so it should be here in the next 4-5 days, which is super exciting, as I can finally get unpacked and stop living out of a suitcase.
The past few days have been spent shopping for everything needed to stock a new home from cleaning supplies to food and furniture. Since I have never lived on my own before, outside of student housing, there were many things I needed to buy. I now really appreciate on campus housing where furniture, vacuums, and other items are provided! I am also thankful for my mom and rental cars, such shopping expeditions would not be possible without them!!
Tomorrow I am going to explore the bus system here in NC and make sure I can get to campus and the grocery store by bus. I don't have a car and I am hoping to save money and the environment and commute by bus, hopefully this will become a reality.
The weather here does not disappoint! It has been hot and humid. Thank goodness for air conditioning!
Once I become a bit more familiar with Chapel Hill and Carrboro (the two cities close by) I will describe them for you all.
Until later...take care everyone.
Peace!
Sarah
